E-commerce & Retail
Payments for online retail that stay out of the customer's way.
What the business needs from payments
A familiar checkout
Customers expect to pay by card or with the wallet already on their phone.
Reliable order status
Fulfilment should start only when payment is confirmed — not when a browser redirect happens to arrive.
Straightforward refunds
Returns and cancellations need full or partial refunds that reconcile against the original order.
Mobile-ready payment
A large share of shopping happens on mobile, where wallets reduce typing.

Payment scenario
Example: a return in an online store
A fictional homeware retailer, Acme Commerce Ltd, sells through its own website.
- 1
A customer pays HKD 1,250.00 for order #RP-10428 on the hosted payment page.
- 2
Acme's server receives an approved callback and releases the order to the warehouse.
- 3
The customer returns one item worth HKD 250.00.
- 4
Acme's system creates a partial refund against the payment token and records the refund status on the order.
This is a hypothetical example to illustrate a payment flow. It does not describe a Rainbow Pay customer.
